History

The construction of Villa Bell' Aspetto dates back to 1647 and was commissioned by Cardinal Vincenzo Costaguti. The initial project, entrusted to the architect Giovanni Antonio de Rossi, was that of a hunting lodge and provided only the central body compared to the current building. When during the first half of '800 Camillo Borghese bought the villa, it was modified with the addition of the lateral bodies in order to accommodate the large family and all their guests. Since then Villa Bell'Aspetto, which was given the name of Villa Borghese, has become a point of reference and meeting place for the Borghese family.

During the Second World War, in the dungeons of the Villa, was located the headquarters of the Fifth Army of the American army, leaving an indelible and historically relevant mark on the place. After this event, thanks to Steno Borghese with his innovative spirit, and Giovannangelo with Lydia Borghese, was re-established the special family atmosphere that you can still breathe today in the villa.
